Biden Claims “An Illegal” Killed Laken Riley Following State of the Union Heckling 

In an unplanned moment during Thursday’s State of the Union address, President Joe Biden expressed his condolences to the parents of murdered Georgia college student Laken Riley in response to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.’s demands that he reveal the name of the deceased student. The immigration debate has turned into a major factor in the 2024 presidential election.

In response to Greene’s yells of “say her name” and “what about Laken Riley?” Excusing Republicans for impeding bipartisan border security legislation, President reached under the dais and extracted a pin in Riley’s honor.

An undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, is accused of killing Augusta University nursing student Riley, 22, last month as she was out on a run at the adjacent University of Georgia campus.  

Republicans are using the assassination as justification for their claims that President has not succeeded in securing the southern border.

Biden’s name was mispronounced by several right-wing accounts, leading to the trending of “Lincoln Riley” on X, the old name of Twitter. The head football coach at the University of Southern California is Lincoln Riley.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, commented on Biden’s use of the term “illegal,” a term his administration has refrained from using, telling CNN: He ought to have stated undocumented now.Typically, we say “undocumented.” “Illegal,” he said. It isn’t a huge problem in my opinion. It’s not a huge thing, in my opinion, because he was more concerned with showing sympathy for the family. It’s an awful tragedy.
